The label "Oriental Brothers" "The Oriental Brothers" actually describes five or six different groups. The original band, led by Godwin Kabaka Opara, was founded by brothers Opara - Mbaise, Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria - Ferdinand Dan Satch Emeka Opara, Christogonous Ezebuiro Obinna ("Warrior" or "warrior") and Kabaka, along with Nathaniel Ejiogu (Mangala), Hybrilious Alaraibe (Akwilla "), and Prince Ichita. Mangala
died shortly before the band became popular in the early seventies.
Then there are the "Oriental Brothers" or "Oriental Brothers" Satch group with Dan Guerrero and after Kabaka left and the "Oriental Brothers", directed by Dan Satch after the last division. With each drop the group's sound has changed subtly. Until his death in June 1999, however, Guerrero continued to call his backup band "Original Oriental Brothers" together with Dan Satch "oriental." To keep things simple, this discography lists under "International Hermanos Banda Oriental" all of the various incarnations of the group of that name. Kabaka Group, International Kabaka guitarist of the band, has its own list, like Guerrero and his "oriental."
Confusingly, at least twice since the end of the Divicion Opara brothers reunited to record albums in the framework of the "orientals" moniker. As if that were not complicated enough, there were at least another "eastern" group led by Prince Ichita. Then there are the ORIGINAL Brothers, also of Owerri, led by Sir Warrior Major sound like, which may or may not be related to the East, but they sound very similar.
There are at least two other groups that originate in divisions of the Eastern band - the "State Brothers International Band" directed by Aloy Anyanwu and Chuks Orlu Nnadiekwe Brothers International Band.
Therefore, it is evident the existence of factions is not to deny the great influence of all groups of Eastern Nigeria in contemporary music. His great contribution was the fusion of Congo - style guitar work with various traditional rhythms "Igbo" to create an agile musical style that was loved by Nigerians of all ethnic backgrounds and life. Their sound emerged in a time of great crisis for the Igbo people following the Biafran war. As Maurice O. Jan, director of the magazine "Kwenu" writes: "... the East play a very important spiritual role in the maintenance of many Ndiigbo sane. They were the pride of a people traumatized by a cruel war."
